Finally Done!

Today we met with the surgeon again...for the last time. Emmett is helmet free! I haven't taken any true "after" photos yet, but here's one I snapped while he was happily waiting for his lunch.

I know this mommy is relieved to have the helmet gone. It really made a ton of difference though, so it definitely wasn't all bad. I have to admit that I will miss the crash protection it gave my little climber.

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day - my husband's first - and I gotta tell ya, he is an awesome dad. He loves his little man so much! And Emmett loves him back, for sure. As a gift, we gave him a three-picture frame for his desk at work. Here are the pictures we included:

And of course, what is Father's Day without some quality time with Dad? Here are my guys enjoying some quality Final Fantasy time. Emmett just loves to "play" video games with his daddy!

In other news, in the interest of making our home a bit nicer, we finally invested in a new couch. Here are some before and afters:

Don't mind the toys everywhere. The living room pretty much belongs to Emmett during the day.

Little Artist

Today was one of those days - you know, those days where you look at the clock and it's only 12:30, and you look at the clock a few hours later and it's only 12:45? Feeling like Emmett and I were in an activity rut, I knew we needed to try something new.

So here is what I did. While Emmett ate a snack, I mixed 4 cups of water with 2 cups of flour in a pan. I heated the mixture on low until it thickened, and then added just a bit of salt. After that I divided the mixture into four plastic cups and added food coloring. The result? Finger paint! Somewhat edible finger paint, which I thought was important for a 10-month old. I turned out to be right, because Emmett probably ate more than he put on the paper.

Here is the result of our first painting adventure.
